As you know, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) is using a new online licensing and regulatory database application for nursing. Additional resources, including “how to” instruction videos and frequently asked questions are available on the site. While the majority of licensees are able to get through the system themselves, the state has dedicated staff to assist any licensee that needs help to update their profiles or make corrections before they can renew.
It is important to note that while nursing licenses expired on March 31, 2018, licenses are still valid for 60 days after the expiration date according to the Michigan Public Health Code. Even if licensees do not receive a paper copy on time, nurses can go to www.michigan.gov/miplus to verify their nursing license has been renewed. If you’re still having trouble after viewing the videos and looking at the frequently asked questions, you can contact LARA at (517) 373-1820.
